Car Accidents Essay I. The Student Union has the following objectives for a better university. A. Enhance the unity between students and strengthen the ties between them and other members of university community. B. Spread the culture and encourage the formation of Active Working Groups (AWGs) and student associations, and coordinating work between them and supporting their activities by providing financial support and manpower if needed. C. Work on solving the problems of students and provide a better university life within the university and beyond. D. Discuss the problems of the students and propose solutions to them, with the concerned officials and care after the rights and interests of students. E. Expressing the studentà communityââ¬â¢s opinion on national and international levels. F. Discover the talents and abilities of the students, help them refine their Skills, enhance their leadership skills and encourage them to benefit their society. II. The formation of the Student Union consists of a Student Council, six committees, Presidential Cabinet, Senate, Clubââ¬â¢s Coordination Committee (CCC), and the Student Union Partnership Office (SU PO). (Show slide and pass out the brochures) A. The Student Council is the studentsââ¬â¢ voice and it is concerned with their opinion on all matter and decisions directly related to them. Its formation is: 1. The Faculty Union which is responsible for looking after each faculty needs. It consists of two members from each faculty in each committee. There are a President and a Faculty Treasurer for each faculty elected directly by students. 2. The University Union which is responsible for looking after the university needs. It consists of one member from each faculty in each committee. There is a head for each committee elected internally by the members of each Committee. 3. In each committee the three members are from three different Academic years. 4. The elections for the high board is required which is done within the student council itself. It consists of the Presidential Cabinet, six heads of the committees of the University Union and six faculty presidents from the Faculty Union. 5. The Student Council committees are as follows: a. Scientific Technological Activities Committee holds workshops and lectures aiming at developing the scientific and technological abilities. b. Culture, Arts Political Awareness Committee supports and organizes cultural and artistic activities seminars, conferences, exhibitions, debates and all forms of political activities. c. Planning Resources Committee which is responsible for preparing the needed resources for the events. It also helps to plan and organize the events. d. Sports Committee supports and organizes training programs, tournaments and all forms of sportive activities. e. Trips Social activities Committee organizes educational and entertainment trips. f. Public Environmental Services strive to increase environmental awareness between students and organize events and activities. B. The Presidential Cabinet of theà Student Union manages the affairs of the Student Union and supervises its progress. It is tasked with: 1. Acting as chief representative and spokesperson of the Student Union. 2. Ensuring that all committees are functioning properly and fulfilling their duties. 3. Ensuring that the objectives of the Student Union are realized. 4. Calling at least two general meetings every semester, attended by all Student Union members including members of the Senate. 5. Calling weekly meetings to discuss the progress of work in the Student Union. 6. After the new President is elected the former President has to handle all the properties of Student Union such as the Student Union room and its belongings, the official page on facebook, the e-mail 7. The Presidential Cabinet consists of four core positions. They are as follows: a. Vice-President which is responsible for fulfilling any tasks of the Student Union President that are delegated to him/her or that the President is unable to perform. b. Treasurer which is responsible for the Student Union budget, its financial statements and its financial affairs. c. Vice-President for Events Student Activities which is responsible for coordinating the events between the different entities in the Student Union and between the Student Union and the Clubââ¬â¢s Coordination Committee. d. Vice-President for Planning and Resource which is responsible for conducting a timeline for the Student Union events, and providing the resources needed. C. The Student Union Partnership Office consists of the Student Union President and the six heads of the University Union Committees. It aims to form a bond between the Student Union in the university and Student Unions of foreign universities, to exchange information, experiences educational programs. D. The Senate consists of two elected members from each faculty each given the title ââ¬â¢Senatorââ¬â¢. The Senate is responsible for evaluating the performance of the Student Union members and recommending corrective action where and if needed. E. The Clubââ¬â¢s Coordination Committeeââ¬â¢s purpose is to aid clubs to coordinate with each other and it reports directly to the Student Union president. It consists of a representative of every club in the university delegated by heads, Vice president of events and activities, and director of youth welfare. III. There are some rules and regulations for the nominee. A. Not under probation. B. No history of disciplinary actions. C. Not been terminated from the previous Student Union. D. Paid the Student Union annual fees. E. Spent at least two semesters as students at the GUC. F. Not a member of any active working group. CONCLUSION I. Summary A. The Student Unionââ¬â¢s main aim is to discuss the problems of the students and propose solutions to them. B. The Student Union consists of Student council, six committees, Presidential Cabinet, Senate, Clubââ¬â¢s Coordination Committee (CCC), and the Student Union Partnership Office. C. The solution is to vote for the most suitable nominee and attend the debates in order to choose the best program provided by the nominees for a better university life. II. Clincher A. Charlotte Perkin Gilman: A life of slient suffering :: Biography
Charlotte Perkins Gilman, born in 1860, was a radical feminist in a time when women kept house and raised children. She attributed to the development of a ââ¬Å"kitchen-less home, socialization of housekeeping and child careâ⬠(SOURCE 2) although she also married and had a child. Ultimately her radical goals and domestic house life lead to her psychotic downfall. Gilmanââ¬â¢s dread of domestic life began in childhood when her neglectful father abandoned the family, Charlotte, her mother and brother. Her mother responded by denying affection, fearing ââ¬Å"that it would weaken her daughter's character and give her an inflated sense of securityâ⬠(SOURCE 2). Gilman fought to become educated and was able to build a life and support herself as a single woman. Filled with shame and fear from her parentsââ¬â¢ divorce Gilman was weary to accept the multiple proposals of suitor Charles Walter Stetson, eventually agreeing in 1885 after her closest friend became married (SOURCE 2). The union was described as unsatisfying and a great factor in Gilmanââ¬â¢s breakdown (SOURCE 1). They had their first and only child in 1886, which was the turning point in Gilmanââ¬â¢s mental health. The pregnancy was filled with illness and emotional instability; she was put on bed rest which left her unstable and ââ¬Å"depressed by domesticity and ambitionâ⬠(SOURCE 2). After her child was born she claimed she ââ¬Å"felt guilty she did not experience the joyâ⬠and ââ¬Å"was a failure as a womanâ⬠(SOURCE 2). Gilman was unable to function normally, her life filled with extreme unhappiness or sudden hysteria. Eight months after the birth of their daughter Gilmanââ¬â¢s emotional state was not improving and she left home. She spent five months with a friend collaborating on writings and plays (SOURCE 2) and filled with the relief of living an domestic life began feeling better. Gilman returned home determined she was well again but within a month was returning to her previous state (SOURCE 2). Writing in her diary ââ¬Å"I am very sick with nervous prostration and I think some brain disease as wellâ⬠(SOURCE 2) at this point she began getting treatment from S. Weir Mitchell a nerve specialist. She underwent the Rest Cure Treatment and ââ¬Å"for six weeks, Charlotte had complete bed rest, daily massages, plentiful food, and no access to books or friends. She was sent home with an admonition never to write or paint againâ⬠(SOURCE 2). The treatment ended with an extreme psychotic breakdown, which is described in her short story The Yellow Wallpaper.

The 2014 World Cup begins on June 12, when Brazil plays Croatia in the opening match. Reporters and editors for The Times will count down to the start of the tournament each day with a short capsule of news and interesting tidbits. Perhaps the biggest change at the World Cup will be the introduction of goal-line technology for those rare instances of dispute. Far more common in the game are vexing tackles from behind, which FIFA, soccerââ¬â¢s world governing body, has expressed new concern about. Diving, or simulation, or what basketball fans call flopping, remains an act that can enrage players and fans. Potential World Cup referees and assistant referees from Asia, Oceania and Europe who this week attended a workshop at FIFA headquarters in Zurich were instructed to pay special attention to the nasty tackles from behind that halt the flow of play and can lead to injury. FIFAââ¬â¢s head of refereeing, Massimo Busacca, said referees working the World Cup would be instructed to react to any signs of rough play. ââ¬Å"The safety of the players is very important, so the referees have to read the situation carefully at the beginning of the game,â⬠Busacca told reporters. ââ¬Å"If players start committing this type of foul, we have to take action to avoid it. We have to say, ââ¬ËWe do not want to see this kind of football in this competition.ââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"This is the role of the referee, to try to understand and anticipate. Sometimes the players forget because of the adrenaline. The role of the referee is to say: ââ¬ËDo you want to play today, or do you want to take a shower?ââ¬â¢ We must try to avoid these situations which can destroy football.â⬠More recently, the focus has been on diving, where players embellish a foul or near-foul in a bid to secure a free kick in an advantageous spot on the field. But according to the English referee Howard Webb, who called the 2010 World Cup final in South Africa, diving is a lesser issue for match officials. ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s one of the things we are always asked to be vigilant about because when itââ¬â¢s not accurately identified, it can have quite a damaging effect on the game,â⬠Webb said. ââ¬Å"If you look at the number of decisions made around simulation, they are quite low compared to the vast number of decisions we have to make. Although itââ¬â¢s a small problem, it has a big impact when it does happen, so of course it becomes quite serious.â⬠In Zurich, the 17 referees and 31 assistant referees (linesmen) were taken through a series of medical, physical, psychological and technical tests. FIFA said it had also begun to employ video analysis of match situations to help game officials.à FIFA is planning another seminar, beginning April 7, for officials from Concacaf and South American nations.

We all have a family, but we all have grown up in a different way. Social class plays a huge role in family life. Three of the connections between social class and family include kin, child rearing, and education levels. To begin, kin is a part of the family, but there is a difference between kin ship among the poor and near poor. Kin is an important part of the family life because it is the connection between family and, sometimes, wealth. Who people associate in times of need and support greatly influence their lives and surroundings. In families, the father is seen as the main economic contributor and in crisis, a loss of a job, his authority will drop. This isnââ¬â¢t the only loss he will face, he will also have a decreased self-respect and other family members will treat him with less respect. On the contrary, if women were to lose her job, there wouldnââ¬â¢t be the same treatment. In areas of chronic poverty, ââ¬Å"young mothers rely less on marriage and more on other ki nship ties for supportâ⬠(Cherlin, 2013, p. 127). The poor is more likely to reach out or support more distant relatives than the other social classes.
